When was the last time you had that knock at your door by a person asking for a donation for a fundraiser? It is these dedicated people who spend days or weeks canvasing neighborhoods in there search for that subscription sale or donation for a Charity. Many of us will give something just so we are now thought of as stingy or because we feel that it is a good cause and the young eyes staring at us make us feel obligated.
It is that sorry feeling that you experience that the companies who generate this type of business count on. After all, who can say no to that small child who knocked on you door in the heat of the afternoon lugging a box of cookies. If we experiences this type of method more often, we would put up No Soliciting signs on our front door because we feel pushed into giving. Nobody likes to be pushed. The greedy humans always want to know what is in it for me. Human nature it is, and if you can give a good answer, you can make that connection.
Usually, giving makes us feel good and generates that happy feeling we wish we had more of in our daily lives. There are those who give as a form of legacy, so their name will live into the future, while others give out of guilt.
